[00:00:00] Speaker A: Foreign.
Hello, and welcome to episode 40 of Peds game Shack. Today I am joined by the wonderful Jeff Yard. How's it going, dude?
[00:00:26] Speaker B: Hello. Yeah, I'm good, thank you. Hope you're doing well too.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: Yeah, not bad. Not bad. Not bad at all, actually. Just hot. I've been very hot recently because the weather's been very hot.
[00:00:39] Speaker B: I've also been hot because I'm so sexy.
But we're worried.
It's been not. Not. I mean, today it's been hot, but it's also been raining as well.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:00:57] Speaker B: So both worlds.
[00:01:01] Speaker A: Exactly, exactly.
Rain and warm weather, not a good. Not a good combination, but there you go. So how have you been, what you've been up to recently?
Anything interesting?
[00:01:19] Speaker B: Nothing interesting, I'd say. I've just been working a lot and to play Rocket League, but I've just been desperately trying to remember the controls and by the time I remember how to boost, the ball's going into my net.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: Change the controls, which. What?
[00:01:43] Speaker B: Well, remember the controls, I should say.
[00:01:53] Speaker A: My TV's talking to me.
I think the dog must be laying on the remote.
Silly dog.
Yeah. So what was he saying? Sorry? About your controls.
[00:02:06] Speaker B: Oh, no, let's just say that by the time I remember what the controls are.
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Because you. You have gaps. Like. I get.
I get you silly dog. Are you the dog?
So do you want to jump right into it? Into Squirrel with a Gun?
[00:02:29] Speaker B: Yeah, let's go for it.
[00:02:31] Speaker A: So have you played much of Squirrel With a Gun?
[00:02:35] Speaker B: I've probably played about an hour or so. Not. Not a great amount, but I think so. When I was playing on my laptop, I don't know whether maybe it should have gone on PS5 or maybe it's because it's quite an old laptop, but I did seem to have a couple of crashes.
[00:02:56] Speaker A: Oh, lovely.
[00:02:56] Speaker B: Which was unfortunate, but once I got into it, it is.
It's a fun little time.
Whereabouts did you get up to?
[00:03:09] Speaker A: Well, I played it for a bit longer than yourself. Not majorly, but I got to someone called Father.
[00:03:20] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:03:20] Speaker A: Did you fight Father?
[00:03:24] Speaker B: I did.
[00:03:25] Speaker A: Ah. So you. You basically go as far as. I did, maybe further then, but in a shorter amount of time. So I played it for about two hours, but I spent a lot of time just trying to get a lot of acorns to try and unlock stuff around the village.
[00:03:41] Speaker B: Yeah, I found one once. I got into a little car thing as. Just happy to drive around, to be honest.
[00:03:50] Speaker A: Yeah. I was wondering for ages how you. There's a skate park.
I was wondering for ages how you get to the top of the ramp. And the only way I've seen how you do is by using the car. And even then I can't get up, up and land on the top of it because I'm fucking shit.
[00:04:06] Speaker B: I just think there's no point in getting any new Tony art games about this.
[00:04:12] Speaker A: With a gun. Yeah, yeah.
[00:04:17] Speaker B: Yes, you do.
[00:04:19] Speaker A: What did you think of when you started then? Because obviously start off, you.
You start off as just a normal squirrel with a bit of platforming and then you get a gun.
[00:04:29] Speaker B: Yeah. I found the start again. I.
I think maybe I'm just being thick, but wasn't too sure what I was doing because it doesn't really give you any tutorials, which is fine. I don't think this game needs it. But there's a load of buttons. There's a little thing I had to pull up and I ended up losing the.
I think I had to.
Over at some switches on the wall, this little. The floor panel.
I. I ended up jumping towards that big acorn in the middle with this floor panel in my. My little paws.
Then that panel disappeared, so I had to restart it because I couldn't find it.
But yeah, once I got outside into a little village and you could start, you know, getting your guns and stuff.
[00:05:30] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. There's not much to the first area. Like I haven't done the secondary because I think after you kill Father, who has a jacket that says Daddy on it, which is a bit odd.
I think it unlocks. Opens up a new section of the map or something. Or maybe a new area altogether. Not sure.
But the area you start off in doesn't really have a lot in there. There's like a house with a lot of mines.
Another house which is. The floor is lava, and then another house where people are having a barbecue.
[00:06:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
I found.
Because I thought. I think that the game sort of sells itself on its name. Really.
[00:06:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:06:19] Speaker B: And it's only enough for a couple of hours and I think it is only a short game.
[00:06:26] Speaker A: Yeah. I think according to how long to beat, it's five hours, so. But I'm really slow in comparison to how long to beat, so it will probably take me 25 hours.
[00:06:41] Speaker B: Yeah. I'm not sure I could play it for that long. I think five hours would be a good enough length. But I think once you sort of get used to a combat, you know, it's. It's pretty funny the first time. And you. You do get. You can get unique animations for different weapons.
[00:07:00] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I do like the pistol kill the. I don't know where it is. It's not a fatality, that's Mortal Kombat. But basically you can like shoot people, stun them and then you can press a certain button and you'll do like a finishing animation.
And the pistol one is great because you slide under the person, you wave at them and then shoot them in the face repeatedly.
[00:07:34] Speaker B: Yeah, because I think that's sort of one of the things that's used in the tailors as well, that animation and. Yeah, yeah, they're great but I'm not sure, you know, whether have the same appeal. About 100 kills on.
[00:07:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I can understand that thought process really. Cuz like it's going to lose some of the. It's going to lose the comedy value after a while. But it, it plays like the game itself. It plays okay anyway, it seems okay. But if it's short like it's meant to be, then it. I can't see it outstaying his welcome.
[00:08:13] Speaker B: Yeah, I think this is one where I probably get around to completing or it's probably not one that I'd come back to to replay once I've done it.
[00:08:24] Speaker A: Yeah, I can agree with that. But it's enjoyable. Did you, did you. How did you deal with the mines then? Did you get the mind suit or did you just deal with the mines?
[00:08:37] Speaker B: Yeah, I got that mind suit and I think at the time as well because most of my time was spent in the skate park.
But I think once you get to the sort of out of the sandbox and to the puzzles like the floor is lava and that sort of stuff, that's when I think that's probably where I had the most fun, to be honest.
[00:09:13] Speaker A: Yeah, it is.
It's enjoyable doing the little puzzles and working out things.
The good thing is it's not too complex for my little brain.
But yeah, the mind.
No, it's fine. You go ahead, man.
[00:09:31] Speaker B: Yeah, I was just going to say I found myself when I was going through it, just getting distracted by the acorns and you know, it'd be something where see one on the corner of my eye and then have to go dashing off towards. Yeah, yeah.
[00:09:51] Speaker A: You became a squirrel.
Yeah, I was gonna say the funny thing with the mine area is I.
I managed to get the guy who's in there with a shotgun to get blown up by mines. I can't remember how. And he ended up outside of the fence. So you kill him. But he revives after a little bit.
So he was stuck outside of his of his little house forever.
Like cruel.
[00:10:21] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't think I had.
I think because I remember like picking up reminder, then just lobbing it and just.
And up to be honest.
[00:10:40] Speaker A: Yeah, that's the thing with the mind suit. Like I just spent ages running through the minefield, getting blown up and being fine.
Oh, there you go.
And then I've took my mine suit off, forgetting about the mines and then died a few times.
But there's some funny suits in there as well and some interesting ones. Like for example, there's a certain type of snake colored suit and if you equip that outfit as the. Or skin as the squirrel, then you slither across the floor instead of running.
[00:11:20] Speaker B: That's cool.
[00:11:21] Speaker A: Yeah. There's also a one where you wear a dress and you run with your hands in the air like a woman would run. If it's like, oh, from a horror film where the woman's an idiot, I guess.
I don't know, I've never seen a woman run like that. But I think it's meant to be like the stereotypical female run, I guess. But.
But there's different skins that will give you different benefits like the mine one. And there's also ones that will just give you different animations and things like that.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: Yeah, it's quite a neat little way to fashion it up with the different outfits. And as you say, certain outfits do give you different abilities and Yeah, I guess with.
And I suppose different.
What's the word?
Shout outs to, you know, as I say, common groups as you might see that horror woman.
[00:12:34] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. It's just funny because the squirrel can like, I assume the squirrel will be the same every time, but the squirrel does actually have different like animations and things which is good because it just gives you an incentive to try and explore. But instead of just getting your acorns and getting to the next bit, it's like explore, find some interesting stuff, find some new skins that will help you find some new skins that will just try and make you laugh, that kind of thing.
Or just.
[00:13:07] Speaker B: Yeah, cool.
[00:13:08] Speaker A: But you know.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Definitely. And yeah, it sort of adds a bit more replayability.
As I say, I probably won't go back to replay it but you know, it'll make the initial play for a bit more fun and you know, perhaps you could kind of do a challenge where you get through the game in a snake suit.
[00:13:33] Speaker A: It's fun as well with some of the, some of the ways you have to get some of the acorns. There's one where I don't know if you did this, you probably did. There's people having a barbecue and the gas canister for the barbecue is. There's like a little door that's almost. You can see the gas canister and then you have to blow up the barbecue and the person's just standing here cooking. You blow it up with it and then you get an E. Corn, stuff like that.
[00:14:12] Speaker B: Yeah, it's quite a lot of mischievous.
Did these developers make any other games?
[00:14:25] Speaker A: That is something I do not know. I. I don't know. I. I should have looked at what they've made really, but I haven't. So they probably have made other games.
[00:14:37] Speaker B: Ed Creations.
[00:14:41] Speaker A: But yeah, I think it's a fun little game. I don't think it outstays is welcome from what I've played of it. I don't think it's going to outstay as welcome as I haven't finished the game. But obviously I don't know exactly how long I'm gonna be playing it but like five or six hours will be fine with me.
[00:15:02] Speaker B: Yeah, I think I'm. I'm the same.
I think it's definitely sells itself on the title.
I think it's funny enough to. To sustain a few hours.
[00:15:16] Speaker A: Yeah, the squirrel is pretty good visually as well. Especially when you turn on like the extra haze.
You can turn on the fur so it's like proper feel like it's got like proper hair strands.
You can turn that on and off and I turned it on to see what it would be like and it looks. Looks pretty well done compared to the rest of the game, which all looks a bit derpy.
Like all the people look more or less the same.
All the male people look the same as the other male people and all the female people look all the same.
That kind of thing.
[00:15:53] Speaker B: Yeah, I think they did a good job with the main asset.
When I first got into a little town, suburban area, it just made me think of Toy Story 2 on the PlayStation 1, Andy's house start area for some reason. So yeah, it goes fairly cheap. So I think if you can grab it and if you've got a few hours to build and I'd definitely.
[00:16:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. It's worth.
Worth giving her a bash. I would definitely say that.
Rather fun. Did you ever hold anyone up for some acorns?
[00:16:48] Speaker B: I didn't, yeah. Until.
Because again it sort of goes in with.
Maybe it should be a bit more the word villainous with my.
[00:17:03] Speaker A: Well, I was just running around and I aimed a gun at someone at random and they were like.
And then all they started, like, looked like they were sweating acorns.
So the animation made me think, are they sweating acorns?
I don't know why humans are carrying around acorns, but who cares? Squirrel was getting their acorns.
[00:17:26] Speaker B: That's one way to do it. I'll just keep an eye out on them and I will see him when I'm cycling in future. Make sure they're not my, er.
[00:17:40] Speaker A: Do you carry acorns with her, Jeff?
[00:17:43] Speaker B: I. I don't.
[00:17:45] Speaker A: You should be fine. You should be fine.
That's fair enough.
[00:17:56] Speaker B: Making my car going into Sainsbury's or any other retailing.
[00:18:03] Speaker A: Yeah, we're not sponsored by Sainsbury's or, you know, anyway, it's fine.
Any other shot space.
But yeah, I think. I think I have to agree with what you said just now about it being, you know, if you. If you've got some time, wait for it to go on sale, few hours spare, jump in, give it a go.
[00:18:42] Speaker B: So have you been playing anything recently other than.
[00:18:46] Speaker A: Other than Squirrel with a gun? I have been playing Mario Kart World.
[00:18:52] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:18:53] Speaker A: On the Nintendo Switch 2, which I've been rather enjoying.
[00:18:59] Speaker B: Did you point a gun at some employee and watch him sweat out switches?
[00:19:06] Speaker A: No.
No, I. Probably not. Not getting switches. And I'd probably just get put in jail.
[00:19:16] Speaker B: And then Acorn.
[00:19:18] Speaker A: Yeah, but nice Mario Kart World. I. I think. I think it's rather damn good. Like, I'm. I'm still unsure. On the drive into, like, the first race in the Grand Prix, the first race you do is proper three laps of something. And then when you go to the next race, you have to like, drive to the. To the race track, do one lap, then drive to the next one, do one lap, drive to the next one, and do one lap. And I think it kind of loses a bit of the.
Loses a little bit of magic or something. I don't know. I can't really think of the right words. I'm just gonna say that because driving from one track to another is nor as fun as just doing the tracks.
So when I deploy online with the people from G Arcade and then whoever else joins off our friends list.
Friends lists even.
We tend to press when. When it comes up with, oh, choose one of these tracks and you can race to the track and do the lap. It's like, now we'll press start, pick a different course, and then do full three laps of the course.
That is much more interesting to me doing proper laps because the. The way the, the in between bits, while I, I, I don't think they're bad. They, not exactly great either. They, they're all right.
Like some people really dislike them, but I think they're all right.
Knockout mode is really good.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: What do you do in Knockout Mode?
[00:20:54] Speaker A: I think it's called Knockout Tour.
Basically there's, you do the whole lap thing, the whole race to one place, to another place, to another place.
But what makes it more fun is, is on the first section, you, you, it's like five sections, I think six something. You've got to get 20th or you get knocked out. Then after that, 16th or you get knocked out, then 12th, then eighth, then fourth and then the last one is come first.
So when playing that online, that's a lot of fun. But it's also quite stressful because, like, sometimes you'll be like, oh, I'm way out in front in first. Then something will hit you and then do you're back in 20th or something. And it's like, wow, it's really, really punishing compared to Mario Kart 8.
[00:21:54] Speaker B: Get knocked out in the first little round and then having to watch all your friends with bitterness in you.
[00:22:00] Speaker A: Exactly.
I was playing it Monday just gone and as in yesterday, Monday just gone.
And Ale was like, oh, let me get a shot off at the person in first, red shells. I was like, go on. And then he shot him with a red shell and then he had three green shells and decided to spend his time ramming me and then knocked me out from like second back all the way down to ninth or something, which then ended up getting me knocked out. And I was like, sake, Ale.
[00:22:37] Speaker B: I'll.
[00:22:37] Speaker A: Let you go in front of me. And then you screw me.
What a bastard.
[00:22:44] Speaker B: Bastard.
You know, Ale, if you're watching, you're a bastard.
Saying, giving you a thumbs up.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: He's lying. I, I, I can see him on the camera.
Yeah.
But I've been playing a few other things. What about yourself? What have you been playing?
[00:23:05] Speaker B: Well, I, I did a Sonic 9999 ring challenge that he gave me.
[00:23:12] Speaker A: Oh, you've actually done that though?
[00:23:15] Speaker B: Yeah, I've not finished a challenge.
I did want to stream it because I can play it all right. But when I use obs with it, it slows down to a crawl, which is a shame.
But I was doing it offline and it's a shame I wasn't streaming it because I had it set that I think I lost my shield. I forget what level it has in, I think as in flying Battery. In Sonic 3 Knuckles.
[00:23:51] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:51] Speaker B: But I. I knew I could swap levels by going through a checkpoint.
[00:23:57] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Through the bonus stars. Yeah.
[00:23:59] Speaker B: So I had a fair few rings.
Like, if not the high hundreds, as in like 6, 7 hundreds and possibly even the low thousands, I didn't want to lose it.
So for, okay, I've got no shield, I'll go through a star and hopefully end up into a nice easy stage.
So I went through a bonus stage and ended up in a Metropolis zone.
[00:24:33] Speaker A: That's a challenging zone as well.
No, it's not an easy zone, is it?
[00:24:39] Speaker B: No, I. I definitely want to do the 9999 ring challenge properly on. On stream. So hopefully if I get a computer maybe. Because it is Sonic's 34th anniversary yesterday, so. Oh, was there the Monday just gone?
So maybe next year I can do it for the 30.
[00:25:07] Speaker A: Yeah, that would be cool. I played her a little bit, but I only did 999 rings and I did that fairly easily.
But I think I did that. There's two different ways of doing this, three different ways of doing it. I think there's you collect rings, they go into the bank. The bank is safe.
You collect rings, they go into the bank, you get hit with no again, you lose the rings in the bank. So you get like two chances of building up your rings. Then there's. I think it's called Iron Ring mode, which is you get hit at any point, you lose all your rings.
[00:25:44] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the one I went for then.
I only had it set to.
So I was getting quite a lot of Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles stages because I put in the list Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles and then Sonic Fear Knuckles. I should have just put Sonic Fear Knuckles in so it swap more frequently for those because it just picks a random game.
So I didn't want to put in like Sonic 3D blaster, Sonic Labyrinth or Master System games.
[00:26:25] Speaker A: I don't know if they'll work for that.
That specific 99999.
I think.
I think it'll work for the.
The Collector ring and the changes stage. That must be annoying.
[00:26:45] Speaker B: So yeah, when I was messing about with the settings as well, that's what I've stood on. So Collector Rings change stage and there's one point when there's a scum within like a loop in Sonic 1 and then it switched to Sonic 2 where it's going through a loop and then Sonic 3 and then Sonic 3 and Knuckles Sonic 3 level and then Sonic and Knuckles. So if you're Doing a ring. It is swap it. Swap, swap, swap.
So yeah, I think. Is there a way that you can swap it after a certain amount of things?
[00:27:21] Speaker A: I'm not sure but if you look at the settings for the Northern 999 settings, the. The top settings, the one where it swaps per ring, you can change it for like every. For like every 30 seconds, every minute, every. Something like that. So you can do that.
But I'm not sure if there's however many rings which you know would be cool because every ring is a bit.
[00:27:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I'll definitely have a proper look into the settings because I think.
And to do a 9999 ring challenge on iron Ring, the levels change every so often. That'd be.
[00:28:04] Speaker A: Yeah. I came across this. It's called Alistair's Magic Box and I came across it through a Twitch streamer called Argic. I think it's about A R, G, I, C, K.
He's a Scottish streamer. He is. He's good streamer funny, you know, that kind of thing. And he does a lot of sonic stuff.
He does a lot of indie stuff as well and various other things. But he main. But when I tend to see him online streaming, he tends to be doing like speed runs or. Yeah, things like that.
I thought I'd mention it because that's. That's how I come across how I found out about Alistair's Magic Box.
Sounds a bit rude but there you go.
I think it sound rude if it was Allison's magic box, to be honest.
Terrible. You are telling me silly jokes like that.
[00:28:58] Speaker B: Listen, if you're watching.
Yeah, other than that, just been playing Dragon Quest 11 which started. So that's a nice short game.
[00:29:18] Speaker A: No.
Have you played many of the Dragon Quest games or. No.
[00:29:24] Speaker B: No, not at all. I've did a bit of Dragon Quest 8.
[00:29:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:29:34] Speaker B: Which was the first one that released in the uk as far as I know.
I didn't get too far into it because I bought it just before I moved out for uni.
So I had it on PS2.
[00:29:50] Speaker A: You too busy getting laid in uni and getting drunk instead?
Terrible you are, Jeff. Terrible.
Are you finally playing Sonic?
Playing Sonic. Fair enough.
How's that? Are you finding Dragon Quest 11 then? Because I. I think I have it on the switch but I've not played it. I've not even started it because too many games.
[00:30:12] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean so far so good. I'm still quite near the beginning, but I've done seven hours which sounds a lot. But I've been trying to get skill points to get skills. So off stream, I've just been fighting enemies with like a podcast or just music in the background.
But yes, so far it's sort of like a very classic rpg.
[00:30:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:30:44] Speaker B: I'm not going to say bare bones because there is a lot of effort into it.
And you can eat more of a.
[00:30:51] Speaker A: Traditional RPG though, on a, you know, turn based. Yeah, it is too nice. Yeah.
[00:30:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:30:56] Speaker A: Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with two based at all.
[00:31:01] Speaker B: But yeah, the addition I've got, which I think will be the one you have on Switch as well, the Deluxe Edition. So you can. It's even got 2D mode, so you can play through most, if not all of a game in 2D.
[00:31:16] Speaker A: That's really cool.
[00:31:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:19] Speaker A: On the PlayStation 5 as well as the Switch C. But I don't.
[00:31:22] Speaker B: So I was like, yeah, fair enough.
[00:31:24] Speaker A: Because I was gonna. If I was to play it, I would probably play on the PlayStation 5 over the Switch simply because I would assume it would run better.
[00:31:33] Speaker B: Yeah. So the PS5 version that I have is that definitive edition as well. I think the original PS4 version would be the.
Without the bells and whistles. Yeah, that'd be your basic one. But yeah, if you've got PS5 and.
[00:31:51] Speaker A: Switch, can't be doing with basic stuff, man.
[00:31:56] Speaker B: It still sounds like there's a lot to do, but just the base game.
[00:31:59] Speaker A: But yeah, it probably is with it being a Dragon Quest game.
But yeah, I tell you what, I've also been playing another. Another couple of games on top of Mario Kart.
I've gone back to the Pokemon Violet to do the DLCs. I've done one of them. I'm now most of the way, I assume, through the second dlc.
And the reason why I went back to them is because I remembered I hadn't done the dlc. But also I thought I'd give them a try on the Switch too, for the simple fact of it's meant to run better and it does run nice and fucking smooth now, whereas before it ran like a fucking. I know, a car with square wheels.
Shit.
But that's been all right. And other than that, I've been playing through a game called Baldar's Baldur's Gate 3 with Mrs.
Yeah, it's a long game.
Yeah. Well, what it is is we played through Divinity, Original Sin, which was by Larian, the same studio that I built Baldur's Gate 3, and we really enjoyed it. So I thought, right, we'll play through divinity original sin 2. And then we really enjoyed that and both of those games took us well over under 100 hours.
So we put a few hundred hours into both of them and then we were like, let's play ball. Doesn't get three. It's made by the same people, but for a long while. My missus like, yeah, I don't like it as much as the other ones. I don't like her as much the other ones. And I think it's because it is.
It's different. Like the first divinity, Original sin. My misses Got into that pretty easily.
And then the second one, it's like, I don't like as much as the first one because it's different because the. There's not. Because it's different, because it's. It's like harder to get used to after you're used to the first one because they change certain things. And then obviously balder. Baldur's Gate 3 is different again.
So it's getting used to the different mechanics because it's closer to dnd. It's not exactly the same as D and D like, but it is much closer to dnd.
But there you go. So we've been playing through. I think we're about 50 hours in.
[00:34:19] Speaker B: Nice.
[00:34:20] Speaker A: Yeah, I think we've just finished the second chapter. So.
[00:34:26] Speaker B: Out of the games that you played this year, what would you say has been your favorite so far?
[00:34:35] Speaker A: Probably Baldur's Gate 3.
Really good. I like. I should have. I should have played it and finished it originally when I had it on PC.
But like an idiot, like I do is, I kind of got distracted by other things. And we're me and the Mississippi plane. I've been really into it, so I'm like, why didn't I finish it?
Yeah, it's really good.
Oh, I should have lied and said Squirrel with a Gun.
What about yourself?
[00:35:09] Speaker B: Well, it's a little game where you play as a little rodent with a gun. No, I've been.
I've not been playing a great deal, to be honest, Normie, if.
[00:35:22] Speaker A: If I'm honest, I'm way behind normal games. This is the first podcast I've done for games in about six months because I've just been doing stuff.
[00:35:33] Speaker B: Yeah, I've been going through Final Fantasy 16 as well, in which. Mostly off stream.
So, yeah, FF16, I'm enjoying. So it probably be by default rather than anything else.
[00:35:54] Speaker A: Yeah.
Like, I've done podcasts for films because getting someone to watch a film and then discussing it takes all of. Say if the film is hour and a half, you're looking about two hours altogether.
Games. It's like, hey, let's play a game. And then you have to play the game. The game could take hours and then the podcast could take half hour to an hour. It varies.
I used to be like, yeah, we'll make it an hour. But now I'm like, we'll finish when we finish, because that's how it should be.
But yeah, it's more time consuming for myself and like me, I don't mind, but I feel like a dick being like, hey, do you want to do a game podcast and spend hours playing a game that you might not even like?
[00:36:51] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that the main difficulty with a game over film is like with a game when you're playing it, you sort of do have to have your attention on the. On the game itself. Whereas if it's say a film for two hours.
[00:37:07] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:08] Speaker B: You could just sort of shove it on and you don't have to too much attention to it if, you know, if it's not enjoyable. Yeah, obviously if it's Cloud Atlas and you've got to do that for four hours.
[00:37:27] Speaker A: The Cloud artist did have boobs, so it was. It has a plus pike, stop making these terrible jokes.
Such a dirty dog.
[00:37:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
Understand how.
Because I know you mentioned on Sunday about doing a oh to who review, so.
[00:37:58] Speaker A: No, what it was is me, the watching artist, and Matt and Kerr 9000. We're gonna do a podcast on Doctor who and basically you're gonna watch classic who and we're gonna do each serial as one podcast.
So the first four episodes is the Unearthly Child serial. I believe we recorded that, but we never carried on with it. And I'm really gutted because it would have been fun to do.
[00:38:36] Speaker B: I wouldn't mind doing that.
Probably not until 2027, I'm afraid.
Yeah, I mean, maybe I could squeeze in.
Yeah.
But we'll see. But yeah. Yeah. That is something that I wouldn't mind picking up at some point if you're still up for it.
[00:39:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I'd be well up for doing it. It's just getting the people to do it and if you were up for it and great.
[00:39:16] Speaker B: Yeah.
As I say, if Matt and Care want to do it as well, probably be better because I'm not too sure how much I can at the moment.
But yes, it's certainly in. In the next couple of years, I'll probably have the time available to.
[00:39:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:39:44] Speaker B: Watch your cereals and on a podcast and it'd be good to.
So see how it evolves as well.
[00:39:52] Speaker A: Yeah, well, that's the thing. We were gonna watch the cereal, do a podcast, watch a serial. And the good thing is, is not too long. Again, it's like 25 minutes per episode and four episodes again, like two hours roughly. So it didn't take up too much time. But then I. I don't know. I don't know why he didn't carry on because I had fun doing it. The guys seem. Seem to enjoy themselves, but I think.
[00:40:16] Speaker B: Just time we get to War Games, which is about 10 episodes.
[00:40:22] Speaker A: I like War Games. Even though it's a lot of good. Even though it's a lot of runaway get captured, runaway get captured, that kind of thing. Again, I really enjoyed War Games and I think Trouton was awesome.
[00:40:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
Yeah. But definitely something I'd be up to do. So sweet.
[00:40:48] Speaker A: Did you say to me before we started, Geoff, that you have some interesting news to talk about?
[00:40:55] Speaker B: I may have a news or three.
[00:40:57] Speaker A: Oh, lovely.
[00:41:01] Speaker B: The first one. And these are all related to the game that we've been here to discuss.
[00:41:08] Speaker A: Squirrel with a gun. Specifically.
[00:41:12] Speaker B: Sorry.
So there's a new ale which has been.
[00:41:20] Speaker A: Not another one.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: Not ale as in to build green shells at you.
This is reported on the hexum current on the 23rd of June, by the way. So it's a new ale which is helping to protect Northumberlands red squirrels.
[00:41:43] Speaker A: Oh, lovely.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: And it's a pint which for every sale Tempe goes to an off Umberland Wildlife Trust.
[00:41:54] Speaker A: I think. I think they should donate more than 10p a pint, especially if you buy in London's about 27 pound.
[00:42:05] Speaker B: Probably prefer to get a.
Get a red squirrel to. To shoot all the gray ones.
Yeah, it's sort of to try and maintain a native red population.
[00:42:21] Speaker A: Yeah.
Bloody American squirrels coming over here killing up red squirrels. I don't know if they're killing them like, but.
[00:42:32] Speaker B: Yeah, it's strange because there's something a bit of a read into this and apparently the grays were imported for rich land owners for the gardens in late 1800s to early 1900s.
[00:42:51] Speaker A: Well, any rich people?
[00:42:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Obviously over time they escaped but the larger than the red so we can sort of outcompete them. And they also have a virus which doesn't affect them, but it does kill off the red ones. So.
[00:43:10] Speaker A: So I was right. Bloody American squirrels coming over here killing our red squirrels.
[00:43:18] Speaker B: The next one was from The Abergavenny Chronicle, 19th of June and this is one where I'd say it's like clickbait title where I Totally got hooked in.
I mean it's a good article but the title is far better.
So it's. Is Monmouthshire at risk of an invasion by crack eating squirrels?
Yes and unfortunately it just goes on to sort of state about the red versus greys.
It referred to a news article back in 2005 in Brixton where somebody on a forum mentioned what would happen if they found crack and got addicted to it when a load of the tabloids started printing autographs of these.
Yeah.
[00:44:46] Speaker A: That'S disappointing story to the brilliant headline.
[00:44:51] Speaker B: Yeah, it's.
I mean the article itself is quite detailed but it's nothing to do with that unfortunately.
What animal would you most want to get wasted on alcohol or drugs?
[00:45:10] Speaker A: Ugsley.
See if he does anything other than sleep.
[00:45:19] Speaker B: Maybe that's why. Maybe he's just found a nice stash of weed.
[00:45:24] Speaker A: Yeah, probably not away from but it does smell like weed around you quite a lot recently.
That explain a lot bugs.
[00:45:36] Speaker B: The final one is that I might have found the crack den.
[00:45:40] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:45:41] Speaker B: Because the Wellington Weekly News reports that there's squirrels invading the public toilets in Wellington Park.
So I think that might be where their crack den is.
[00:46:00] Speaker A: Are they invading the male or the female toilets?
[00:46:03] Speaker B: It doesn't specify, it just states public toilets and roof of the toilets has a few holes in it. Ever being able to get through and you through there.
[00:46:16] Speaker A: I was just thinking if he's attacking the male toilet then maybe just maybe is after everyone's nuts.
[00:46:24] Speaker B: There you go.
I'm trying to think of a follow up. Joe Biden terrible.
[00:46:36] Speaker A: Jeff, it's okay. You don't need to have another joke.
[00:46:43] Speaker B: It's fine.
So yeah, there we go.
Or maybe if we see the males or females without the pants that could be the crack that they're after.
[00:46:59] Speaker A: Yeah, could be.
[00:47:03] Speaker B: Well, that's it for probably news articles.
[00:47:06] Speaker A: That's fair enough. Well, I don't think there's much else we can say about anything. We've talked about what we've been playing, we've talked about some news articles and we've talked about Squirrel with a Gun.
Is there anything you'd like to to just say to finish off on Squirrel with a Gun or have you said enough?
[00:47:26] Speaker B: I think I've said everything that I need to say.
Come up with some goat facts whenever we do Goat Simulator.
[00:47:38] Speaker A: Which goat simulator? Gold simulator. Gold Simulator 3.
[00:47:44] Speaker B: What's the difference?
[00:47:46] Speaker A: Gold Simulator is the first one. Gold Simulator 3 is the second one.
[00:47:52] Speaker B: There you go.
To be confirmed.
[00:48:00] Speaker A: Do you want to pop your socials or twitch Channel on the on here before we jet off.
[00:48:09] Speaker B: Yeah, you can follow me at f yard pretty much everything, really.
[00:48:20] Speaker A: Go down the street, start following someone, they probably Jeff yard.
[00:48:25] Speaker B: Yeah, especially if I'm sweating a cars.
[00:48:32] Speaker A: Yeah, the main thing I see Jeff on is twitch and it's Twitch tv. Jeffyard. There you go.
[00:48:40] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:48:41] Speaker A: Okay, that will be us then. Thank you Jeff for taking part. It's been a pleasure as always.
[00:48:47] Speaker B: Thank you.
[00:48:49] Speaker A: And that'll be us. Bye Bye.
